Your host will be 42 year old Tim Morton. A
veteran Baja explorer and
rider.
Tim doesn't operate Baja Bound Adventures simply "to make a living",
he does it because he LOVES to be in Baja with its great people and
fantastic
riding. He's also not content to just ride the same old stuff on every
trip, that's why every trip is different and "custom".
When Tim isn't riding in Baja for business he's likely in Baja
riding
for fun, scouting out new routes, or cutting some gnarly new
single-track
trail. Tim has the ability to make the lesser skilled riders feel
comfortable
on the trail riding basic dirt roads, but he also can thrash the most
seasoned
moto-head.
Tim takes riders where no other tour company dares to go! Tim has even
had other guides ask if they could follow him! Tim's reply? "If you
don't know where you're going or you need a GPS, then you shouldn't be
a guide".
Tim has participated in more Baja races than
any other rider.
He has recorded 11 - Baja 1000 and
Baja 500
victories along with a 1st
place Vet Pro
class
win at the Baja 2000, and was named the SCORE (sanctioning body of the
Baja 1000 & 500 races) Overall
Motorcycle Champion in 1995.
He also
competed in the 6-day-long Nevada Rally taking the win in the 250cc
division
(while riding for Kawasaki Team Green),
worked as a Rally mechanic in
South
America, assists Jimmy Lewis
in training of hopeful Rally racers
including
the KTM-Red Bull Team, worked
as Logistics Manager as well as one of
the
riders for factory BMW riding
the pre-production "HP2" 1200cc twin, and
in '05 (while technically not really racing anymore) finished 4th
overall
motorcycle (behind 3-xr650R's) in the Baja 1000 riding a CRF250cc!!
Most recently, for the 2007 Vegas to Reno and Baja 1000 Tim was
recruited by Team Honda to head-up the Factory
Honda "B" Team effort. The team earned 1st in the 30+Pro class at Vegas to Reno and
in the '07 Baja 1000 they raced to
2nd
OverAll motorcycle! We do not mean "2nd" in class like
most people talk about, we mean 2nd OverAll, behind the Factory
Honda "A" Team and beating the
Factory KTM hotshots.
For 2008 Tim was asked again by Johnny Campbell to race on the Factory
Honda / Johnny Campbell Racing "B" bike for the Baja 1000, and again, 2nd place OverAll motorcycle!
Very few riders get a chance to race Factory built race bikes,
especially riders over 30 years of age... and Tim was asked to race
again at age 41!
Tim has participated in an amazing 22 of the past 26 Baja 1000
races, 19 of the past
23 Baja 500 races, and still
competes
at the
expert/professional
level when time allows.
His many years of pre-running and racing experience, trail
riding, as
well as searching for remote surfing beaches has provided him the
opportunity
to explore almost all of this fascinating country and now he wants to
share
these adventures with you!
